Bank of Scotland: How to log in - Practical Tips

Bank of Scotland: How to log in

by Michaela

To log in to Bank of Scotland, you not only need a username and password, but you also need to have your cell phone ready.

You need this information to log in to Bank of Scotland

Your Bank of Scotland account login is your personal access to all important financial information. Here you can check account balances, track transactions and manage your finances efficiently. Secure access protects both your data and your money. When you set up an account with Bank of Scotland, you will need the following information to log in:

  • When you set up an account with Bank of Scotland, you should choose a secure password that ideally consists of upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters.

  • Your username will be assigned to you by Bank of Scotland. This is usually done via email.

  • If you go to the bank’s private client login page, you will need to enter your assigned username. If you have forgotten your username, you can request it directly from the Berlin support team of Bank of Scotland – either by phone on (030) 280 4 280 or by email at kundenservice@bankofscotland.de.

  • The first login does not yet work without your cell phone. This is because Bank of Scotland now uses an mTAN, which it sends to your cell phone, for initial identification and for every login with your username.

This is how you log in to the Bank of Scotland

To log in to your Bank of Scotland online account, open your browser and go to the official Bank of Scotland website. Make sure that the URL is correct to avoid ending up on a phishing website.

  • Click on the login button in the upper right corner. A new window will open. Enter your username here.

  • The very first time you log in, you will receive an mTan on your cell phone to identify yourself and then assign a password.

  • If you forget your access data, you can also find an option on the page to restore your password or username – depending on where the problem lies.

  • You will then receive an mTan via your cell phone, i.e. a code that you enter for double security when logging in.

  • Important: When you have finished using online banking, don’t forget to log out. Especially on other people’s computers, you should also remember to delete the history, including cookies, and close the browser window.

  • By the way: If you have canceled your instant access savings account at Bank of Scotland, you can still log in for a while. BoS will continue to provide you with banking services until the end of March of the following year – with limited functions, of course. This means that you still have access to the annual tax certificate, for example.
