First you should find out which country the caller is from.

• The best way to do this is to enter the area code in Google to determine the country of origin

• You can find out who the number belongs to via the online telephone directories of the respective country.

• The website thisnumber.com is helpful for this. Here you first select the caller’s country of origin from the drop-down menu.

• For the USA, a list of possible first digits of the number is displayed here for each state. If you click on the matching digits, thisnumber.com will show you possible companies and institutions from which the number may originate.

• For other countries, e.g. countries in Europe, the service provides links that you can use to try the reverse search.

• The website whitepages.com is also suitable for the USA. Here you can enter the corresponding number under “Reverse phone”.

• If you are not successful this way, you can also enter the phone number in Google or another search engine and try to locate the caller.

• However, please note that not every subscriber can be traced via the Internet.
