AI voice generators are currently very popular. These tools make it easy to turn text into speech.
These AI voice generators are currently available
Whether for learning, for a better understanding of texts or for social media: the different applications are as diverse as the possibilities themselves.
- Probably the best-known voice generator at the moment is PlayHT. With over 900 voices in 142 languages, the application offers a great deal of choice. PlayHT also offers the option of cloning a recorded voice and using it to generate speech. However, this function is currently only available in English. Other languages are set to follow soon. The free subscription model is unfortunately very limited. Prices for the other subscription models range from $31.20 to $79.20, with a customized subscription model also available on request. The tool is available as a desktop version, app and via a browser.
- Even Microsoft has released its own text-to-speech software. Clipchamp offers over 400 different voices in 170 languages, as well as three different speeds. Apart from generating voices, the application also offers many other video editing options, such as changing video sizes and automatically creating subtitles in videos. If you accept watermarks and a smaller selection of voices and functions, you can even use the application permanently for free. The monthly subscription is currently €11.99.
- Lovo.ai offers not only 150 different voices in over 100 languages, but also the option to choose from over 25 different emotions. This means that the voices are not only spoken with high quality, but also adapted to the emotion to be conveyed. This software also has potential for advertising and films. Unfortunately, the trial version is limited to 14 days. The cheapest subscription model currently starts at $29 per month.
- In addition to the simple generation of spoken words, Murf.ai also offers an “AI Voice Changer”. This function makes it possible to clean up already recorded sequences, for example, by removing background noise. It also recognizes and deletes filler words and overly long pauses. For the text-to-speech function, Murf.ai offers over 120 voices in 20 different languages. In the free version, users can test all voices extensively, but they cannot be downloaded. The cheapest subscription model currently starts at $19 per month.
This is the difference between the many subscription models
Many of the providers listed have a wide range of subscription models to choose from.
- Often the difference lies in how many voices are available in the different languages.
- Not only the number, but also the quality of the voices can vary greatly. While some still sound very monotonous and robotic, others can hardly be distinguished from human voices.
- The download options can also differ between the individual models.
- Some also offer the option of a team account. This can be particularly worthwhile if several people are using the same tool anyway.
- The many test versions of the individual apps are a good way to decide which subscription model is right for your individual needs.
