From 2024, Amazon Prime Video will display advertising. However, the price for streaming will not change
Advertising will be introduced on Amazon Prime Video
Until now, Amazon Prime customers have been able to stream films and series without advertising. This will now change in 2024.
- Amazon informed customers by email at the beginning of the year that advertising will be introduced for Prime Video from February 5, 2024. This is to take place to a limited extent – what exactly this means is not explained in detail.
- “Our goal is to show significantly fewer ads than traditional TV channels and other video streaming providers,” says Amazon in the info email.
- For customers, this means that from February, short advertising clips will be shown before films or series – and ads will probably also be added during the stream. Amazon justifies the decision in favor of advertising by stating that this will allow it to avoid a price increase and invest in high-quality offers such as live sports
If you don’t want to watch advertising with Prime, you pay extra
With the announcement of the introduction of advertising on Prime, Amazon is also introducing an ad-free alternative for streaming fans. Of course, this costs extra.
- If you want to continue enjoying films and series without ads on Amazon Prime Video, you can book an additional option for €2.99 per month via your Amazon account
- Live TV, Freevee titles and channel bookings may still contain advertisements, however, as Amazon itself confirms.
