The graphics card used by your PC is important for updates and program compatibility. There are several methods for finding out which GPU is installed.
Which graphics card is installed: Using the DirectX diagnostic program
Of course, you can also open up your PC and look to see which graphics card is installed. However, it’s easier to use Windows tools such as the DirectX diagnostic program.
- This is DirectX analysis software that is integrated into Windows by default. To find out which graphics card you have using the tool, open the Run command using the keyboard shortcut [Windows] + [R].
- In the next window, use your keyboard to enter the command dxdiag. Press Enter or OK to open the diagnostic program.
- In the diagnostic tool, click on the Display tab. In addition to the name of the graphics card, you will find further information about the graphics memory, resolution and much more.
- If you see multiple tabs labeled Display, you either have multiple monitors or different graphics cards installed. The latter is often the case if you have a small onboard graphics card installed on the mainboard in addition to an additional graphics card.
- Note: Also check the Playback tab if it is displayed. Other graphics cards that are built in but not assigned to a specific monitor are often listed there.
