When USB-C to HDMI doesn’t work, there’s usually just a small problem behind it. If they know the reasons, you can fix it in a few steps
USB-C to HDMI doesn’t work with adapter
Use an adapter to connect the USB-C port to the HDMI port, the following problems may occur:
- Driver out of date: The driver of the adapter may be out of date. An update can remedy the situation. To do this, call up the device manager. You can access it, for example, by simply typing “Device Manager” into the Windows search. Then select the adapter. Right-click to open the option “Update driver”.
- Adapter defective: If you are sure that your screen is working, the adapter may be defective. If you use a different one, the problem may solve itself.
- USB-C port defective: It is also possible that your USB-C port is defective. If you have several to choose from, connect the cable to another port. Also check to see if the cable may not be plugged in properly.
Other causes if USB-C to HDMI does not work
Sometimes the adapter may not work because there is a problem with Windows. An update can help solve the problem:
- Go to the “Updates and Security” menu. You can find this via the search bar or by pressing the Windows key and the “I”.
- Now select the item “Windows Update”. Now you can check for new or pending updates and carry them out. After a restart, you can try the adapter again.
- If the adapter worked before an update and no longer does so, you can proceed in the opposite direction and reset the last update. To do this, also call up “Update and Security” and click on “Restore”.
- You can use the “Let’s go” button to restore Windows to the state it was in before the last update. However, bear in mind that this may affect other programmes.
