If you want to sell your used PC, restore it as well as possible to its original condition – both inside and out.
Selling a used PC: What you need to consider
If you are planning to sell your PC, invest some time – especially in a thorough cleaning and deleting the data. Hand over the device the way you would want a seller to hand it over to you.
- Delete data: Before you sell your used PC, be sure to irrevocably delete all data from your hard disk. You can do this with a special program. However, create a backup of your data beforehand.
- Check the functionality: Also check that all components are working properly. If individual parts of the PC no longer work or only work to a limited extent, please indicate this in the description of your PC.
- Thorough cleaning: Clean your PC thoroughly, both inside and out. Carefully remove dust residues and other dirt from the housing to hand over the computer to its next owner in an appropriate condition.
- Pack the computer shockproof: If the PC has been sold and paid for, pack it adequately secured in suitable shipping packaging so that the computer is not damaged during shipping.
- Compare prices: Before selling, compare the various platforms on the Internet and look at comparable offers so that you get an overview of how much you can expect and ask for your PC.
- Get help: If you’re not sure where and how to sell your PC, or if you’re not confident about cleaning it, take it to a trustworthy computer service in your area.
