You can restart your FritzBox in two ways. Either you unplug it from the mains or you can use the user interface in your browser
Restart the FritzBox via the user interface on the PC
If you want to restart the FritzBox via your PC, you must first open the user interface. You can access this by entering the host name or IP address of the box in your web browser. It is only important that this is in the same network as the FritzBox.
- Enter the IP address of your FritzBox in the address bar of your browser. For most models, this is 192.168.178.1 – otherwise refer to the manual for your FritzBox.
- Attention: You cannot currently reach the fritz.box domain. We explain what is behind the error code “This Site is Suspended” in another guide.
- Once the login area has appeared, log in with your password.
- If problems occur during login, we offer you a more detailed article on how to access your FritzBox interface.
Restart the FritzBox via the browser
After you have successfully logged in, you only need to find the correct submenu. The menus of all current models are structured identically, the expert mode is not necessary.
- Click on System in the left side menu
- Now select Backup in the submenu.
- Switch to the Restart tab in the right-hand area by clicking on it.
- There you will find the Restart button, which you must click to reboot the router. The process takes about two minutes. Please do not disconnect the mains plug while the box is starting up.
