If your printer no longer prints in colour, there is no reason to worry. You can fix the problem with just a few simple steps. Often, incorrect printer settings are the cause of this.
Printer does not print in colour: Check the settings
To get your printer printing in colour again, follow these steps:
- First, take a look at the printer’s settings. You can access these under Control Panel ☻ Printers and Settings ☻ Right-click on the printer ☻ Printer Settings.
- Check if the setting there is greyscale, black and white or similar.
- You can also print a coloured test page there. To do this, click on the button “Print test page…”.
- If no coloured stripes are printed there, you should take a closer look at the cartridges.
- Remove them from the printer and carefully swipe them over a kitchen towel. If no ink is visible, the cartridge is either empty or dried up.
- You can clean the nozzles directly on the machine via the printer menu. This will loosen dried ink.
Other solutions: Printer does not print in colour
If the fault is not with the cartridges, try the following:
- Disconnect printer from power supply for about 10 seconds.
- If this does not solve the problem, uninstall the printer from the Control Panel and then reinstall it.
