If your headset is not recognized, there may be a number of reasons for this. There are a number of solutions that you can use.
Headset not recognized by PC: solutions for software problems
Sometimes the simplest things can solve technical difficulties. If your headset is not recognized by the PC, you should try the following solutions:
- Disconnect and reconnect the headset. Often, this simple trick can solve the problem. Also, be sure to insert the plugs into the correct slots.
- Alternatively, restart your PC. It is possible that a small software error is preventing the newly connected headphones from being recognized. This will be resolved by restarting.
- Pair the Bluetooth headphones with your PC again. Sometimes there may be Bluetooth connection problems that prevent the headset from being recognized.
- Go to your headset manufacturer’s website and find the drivers for the device. Download and install the latest driver to get the headset recognized by the PC.
- Open the Device Manager. In the categories Audio, video and game controllers and Sound, input and output: you will find the microphone and headphones of your headset. Right-click each one and select Update driver or Disable and re-enable drivers.
PC does not recognize the headset: Hardware problems
Whether you use wireless or wired headsets, the hardware can also cause problems.
- Feel for loose connections or breaks in the cable or connectors. If the components are damaged, you will have to use a different device.
- If you have the opportunity, test the headset on another PC or laptop. If it doesn’t work there either, it is most likely defective.
- Bluetooth headphones are sometimes not recognized when the battery goes dead. Charge the headset to use it again.
