If you cannot hear any sound via Conexant Smartaudio HD, there are several possible reasons for this and various solutions
Conexant Smartaudio HD: Checking the audio settings
First of all, you should check the audio settings of your system. Often the problem lies in an incorrect configuration or a deactivated option.
- Open the Control Panel and navigate to “Sound”. In the “Playback” tab, you will see a list of available audio output devices. Make sure that the Conexant Smartaudio HD device is selected as the default device. To do this, right-click on the device and select “Set as default device”.
- If the Conexant Smartaudio HD device is not visible, right-click on an empty area and activate “Show deactivated devices”. If your device is deactivated, activate it by right-clicking and selecting “Activate”.
- Now test the audio output by double-clicking on the device and clicking on “Test” in the new window. A pop-up window shows whether the test tone is played correctly.
- If the settings are correct and there is still no sound, you should check the audio driver. Outdated or damaged drivers can often be the cause of audio problems.
- Open the Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start menu and selecting “Device Manager”. Under “Audio, video and game controllers” you will find the entry “Conexant Smartaudio HD”. Right-click on it and select “Update driver”.
- Select “Search automatically for the latest driver software” to check whether a newer version is available. If no newer version is found, you can also uninstall the driver by selecting “Uninstall device” in the same menu.
- Then restart your computer. Windows will automatically reinstall the standard driver, which often solves the problem.
Windows Troubleshooting and System Services
If the previous steps do not solve the problem, the integrated Windows troubleshooter can help. This checks the system for common problems and offers solutions.
- Open the settings and navigate to “Update and security”. Select “Troubleshooting” in the left-hand menu and then “Additional troubleshooting”. Click on “Playback of audio files” and follow the instructions of the wizard.
- Another cause of audio problems may be deactivated system services. Therefore, check whether all necessary services are active. Press the “Win” + “R” keys to open the Run window and enter “services.msc”.
- Look for the “Windows Audio” service in the list and make sure that it is set to “Automatic” and started. If the service is stopped, right-click on it and select “Start”.
- Check the dependencies of this service by clicking on “Properties” in the same menu and then on the “Dependencies” tab. Make sure that all dependent services are also activated
- If nothing helps, it is possible that the speaker is defective. The only thing that can help here is a repair or a new purchase. Alternatively, you can also connect headphones or other speakers to your device and play sound through them.
