Google Pixel: Insert SIM card – here’s how

by Pramith

If you want to use your Google Pixel to its full potential, you first need to insert the SIM card. We show you which SIM card you need for the Pixel 6 and all other Pixels.

SIM card for the Google Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6a – you’ll need these

Both the Google Pixel 6 and the Google Pixel 6 Pro and Google Pixel 6a require a nano SIM card. This is easy to distinguish from the other SIM cards because it is the smallest of all. It virtually only consists of the small chip.

  • If you have previously used a SIM card in a larger format, you can request a new SIM card from your mobile phone provider. As a rule, the SIM card is free of charge and your number will not change.
  • Alternatively, you can also cut the nano-SIM to size yourself. To do this, use this Nano SIM template, which you can download from us free of charge.

Google Pixel 6/6Pro/6a: How to insert the SIM card

If you already have the nano SIM, you can insert the SIM card directly. You do not need to switch off the Google Pixel 6 to do this.

  • The slot for the SIM card is located on the lower left side of the Google Pixel.
  • Use the supplied pin, a paper clip or a pin to open the slot for the SIM card. To do this, press the pin into the small hole next to the SIM card slot.
  • Remove the holder for the SIM card and insert the SIM card. The chip of the SIM card is pointing towards the display.
  • Push the holder back in carefully, should the SIM card be recognised directly.
  • You will now be asked to unlock the SIM card with the PIN. You can then use the SIM card in the Google Pixel 6.
