Galaxy Watch pairing is not completed: What you can do

by Mike

It may happen that the pairing of a Galaxy Watch with the smartphone cannot be completed. However, you can take a few steps yourself to solve the problem

Galaxy Watch pairing is not completed: How to solve the problem

Some users find that the pairing between a Galaxy Watch and their smartphone is not completed or the watch no longer connects. In this case, it usually helps to start the pairing process all over again. We will show you how to do this:

  • If the Galaxy Watch has already been paired, delete it from the settings of the Samsung Wearable app. To do this, open the settings in the app (3 dashes at the top left). Tap on “Manage devices”. Now select your watch and confirm “remove”
  • If necessary, check whether the watch still appears in your paired Bluetooth devices. If so, delete it there too
  • Restart your smartphone. If you want to be on the safe side, uninstall the Samsung Wearable app and download it again.
  • Scroll all the way down in the settings on the smartwatch and select “Connect to new phone”. Confirm the checkmark. The watch will now be reset, which may take a while
  • When the setup screen appears on the watch, the setup process can be started. In the Samsung Wearable app, go to “Add new device” in the settings and select the watch
  • The same verification number should now appear on the watch and the smartphone. To connect, tap the orange tick on your watch and confirm the number on your phone as well.
  • Now the smartphone downloads the software for the smartwatch and completes the pairing process. This can also take a while. Your phone and Galaxy Watch are then paired and can be used together

What else you can try

  • Check whether the authorization for system access is set for the Samsung Wearable App
  • Turn off both the mobile data and the Wi-Fi connection on your smartphone. In some cases, these connections cause the problems when pairing.
  • Perform a factory reset of the watch. It should then be possible to complete the pairing of the watch without any problems:
  • Press and hold the Home and Back buttons until you can read “Rebooting…”
  • Now press the Home button twice. The boot menu appears. Press the Home button again until “Recovery” is selected.
  • Now press and hold the Home button again until the image disappears. After resetting, the pairing should work
  • On some models, you only need to press the Home button to access the boot menu. This differs from watch to watch.
