If you want to extend an HDMI cable, there are a few things to bear in mind. We will show you how it works and which tools will help you
HDMI cable: How to extend it
- Depending on the device and cable, transmission via HDMI works over 10 to 20 meters. The strength of the signal decreases steadily over the length of the cable. The better the cable and the HDMI chip in the device, the longer the cable can be.
- With HDMI cables, there is no loss of quality if the cable is too long. However, if the cable is too long, noticeable problems such as sound or picture hangs occur. With an HDMI extension cable or an HDMI extension, you can usually achieve a range of around 20 meters without errors occurring.
- If you want to achieve a range of more than 20 meters, you can first try an extension. If you exceed the 20-meter mark, you should use an HDMI repeater that amplifies the signal halfway. This also makes distances of 30 to 60 meters possible
