You don’t normally need to connect a Fire TV Stick to your laptop to watch series and films. This is because the stick is intended for TVs.
Connecting the Fire TV Stick to your laptop: that’s why it doesn’t work
If you want to connect your Fire TV Stick to your laptop to watch series and films on your laptop or view content from your laptop on an external TV, you should know that this is not necessary. You can log in directly to your streaming profiles on your laptop.
- In addition, it is not even possible to plug in the stick on the laptop. The Fire TV Stick has an HDMI output. This is normally used to view data from the stick on a TV or monitor.
- In fact, some laptops also have an HDMI output. This allows screen content to be displayed on an external display device. You won’t find an HDMI input on your laptop, however.
- The stick is therefore not necessary at all because both the stick and the laptop do not have an HDMI input because the HDMI signal only works in one direction.
Alternatives to the Fire TV Stick on a laptop
Instead of using a Fire TV Stick, you can play most content directly on your laptop.
- The easiest way to do this is to install the apps of each streaming provider such as Amazon Prime, Netflix or Disney Plus on your laptop.
- Otherwise, you can also access the services via a web browser and stream your favourite films and series there.
- You can also connect your laptop to an external display device such as a TV via an HDMI cable to watch the content on a larger screen.
