Connecting Sonos to TV – this is how it works

by Corinna

To enjoy full sound, connect your Sonos speaker to your TV. Find out how to do this in this practical tip.

Connecting Sonos to TV – how it works

To connect your TV to the Sonos speaker, you first need the Sonos app.

  • You can get the Sonos Controller App for iOS for free in the Store just like the Sonos Controller App for Android.
  • If you already have speakers attached to your TV, remove them first. Then connect the TV to the Sonos speaker. Depending on the device, use a jack or RCA plug to do this.
  • Use the cable to connect the audio output of the TV to the audio input of the Sonos speaker. Don’t forget to connect all components to the power.
  • Then you’re done, set up the TV as a new component on the Sonos Controller app. Use Trueplay to turn your TV into your home theatre.
    • After setting up the TV on the Sonos app, select “Audio Options” in the TV’s settings. You’ll need to turn off the TV’s internal speaker to enjoy full Sonos sound in the future.
    • The option you need is probably called “External Speakers”, this varies a little depending on the TV. In any case, you will also need to set up the Sonos speaker on your TV.
