Bose headphones are not cheap, so it’s worth replacing worn ear cushions. This procedure is not too difficult.
How to change the Bose ear pads
Even with higher-quality headphones, such as those from Bose, it is not uncommon for the coating on the ear pads to more or less disintegrate after a while. In that case, you have the option of changing the ear pads so that you can continue to use the headphones. Opinions differ on the question of whether you should use the original Bose ear pads or a suitable replacement product. The fact is, however, that the “duplicates” are significantly cheaper.
- Before you attach the new ear pads, the remnants of the old ear pads must first be removed from the Bose headphones. A tool is usually included with the new ear pads. Alternatively, use a flat spoon handle or similar. It is important that you do not damage the headphones while removing the old ear pad.
- Using the enclosed tool, carefully go under the old ear pad and lift it slightly. This will make it easy to pull off. Once you have removed the ear pad, you will see a fabric cover that acts as protection for the electronics.
- Usually, a new cover is also included with the replacement earposters. If you also want to replace the fabric cover, simply peel off the old cover and stick the new fabric cover on top. With Bose headphones, this is usually easy to do.
- Finally, place the new ear pads on the Bose headphones. To do this, gently press the edge of the ear pads under the metal frame of the headphones. Attaching the new ear cushions is the more tedious part of the whole process. You should therefore take some time for this.
