The Apple Watch adds numerous technical functions to the ordinary watch. Whether your Apple Watch is also waterproof and whether you can wear it in the shower or in the bathtub, we explain in our article.
Showering with the Apple Watch: Is it possible?
The different Apple Watch models have different levels of water protection:
- The Apple Watch 1st Generation and Apple Watch Series 1 are splash-proof and can therefore be worn while washing hands and in the rain. However, neither Apple Watch model should be submerged in water under any circumstances, so you should take these watches off when showering to be on the safe side.
- The Apple Watch Series 2, Apple Watch Series 3, Apple Watch Series 4, Apple Watch Series 5, Apple Watch Series 6, Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Series 7 are water-resistant and therefore could theoretically be worn while showering.
- However, Apple specifically states that the Apple Watches should not be exposed to soapy water, lotions, conditioners or other agents, nor can they tolerate steam baths or saunas. So if you don’t plan to take a quick cold shower with fresh water, you should also take the other Apple Watch models off before showering.
- If your Apple Watch does accidentally come into contact with soapy water or similar, you should rinse it carefully with fresh water.
