If you want to escape the noise with your Airpods on a plane, a number of questions arise. Since you are forced to set the flight mode on your smartphone, the Bluetooth connection does not work. Nevertheless, there is a solution.

Using Airpods on a plane: What you need to know

If you’re flying on holiday and want to use your Airpods, pay attention to the following things:

• Airpods may be used on the plane. There is currently no ban. However, always follow the information on the website of the respective airline.
• If the flight attendant forbids you to use Airpods for any reason, you must follow this rule. As a passenger, you are obliged to obey the rules of the flight crew.
• Your smartphone must be switched to flight mode during the flight. This will also turn off the Bluetooth connection. In order to use your AirPods, you must turn on the Bluetooth connection separately.

• If you want to use your wireless headphones to watch entertainment movies on long-haul flights, however, you will need an adapter as these systems do not have a wireless connection.

• Be sure to find out which adapter you need before you fly.
