Those who played the Pokémon Red and Blue Editions in the nineties will be familiar with the glitch Pokémon missingNo. In Vampire Survivors you unlock a character with the same name.
Vampire Survivors: unlock missingNo – what you have to do
The secret character missingNo in Vampire Survivors was not originally intended to be used by users in the game, and resourceful players had to edit the game’s code to make the character playable. However, MissingNo has since been officially implemented by the developer and can be unlocked.
- To unlock the character, whose name is a homage to the old Pokémon editions, you must first unlock the Yellow Sign relic in the Holy Forbidden level.
- Holy Forbidden is a secret level that can only be accessed after surviving 14 minutes with one of the base characters in Moongolow and successfully defeating the boss there.
- Since you lose all equipment and upgrades except the starting weapon when entering Holy Forbidden, it is advisable to start the level with a character that has a higher movement speed. At the end of the level, you will find the secret relic Yellow Sign.
- Another requirement is that you can enter the Green Acres Challenge Stage. To do this, you must have previously unlocked the Hyper Mode option on at least two levels. Hyper Mode modifies certain parameters such as the speed of the characters and the projectiles.
- Activate both Hyper Mode and Hurry Mode when leveling for Green Acres and make sure you already have the Yellow Sign relic.
- On arriving at the Stage, head directly southwest. The further you go in this direction, the more intense the visual glitches.
- As soon as winged enemies appear, you know you’re in the right place. Because to unlock missingNo, you need to kill 128 of these monsters. It can be helpful to make a note of the number of monsters you’ve killed so far, so you don’t have to enter the stage again because you’ve killed fewer than 128 of them.
Vampire Survivors: unlock missingNo – what the secret character can do
Now that you have unlocked missingNo in Vampire Survivors, it is of course interesting to know what exactly the secret character can do and why you should play with him.
- The charm of missingNo, which is very similar to the character Red Death, lies in the fact that he starts each level with random status values.
- In addition, the character starts the level each time with one of two possible weapons, the Axe or the Death Spiral.
- Stats are re-rolled each time you select the character selection screen. The random stat values are also affected by the power-ups selected.
- In addition to the pure chaos that can result from the random distribution of status values, it is also possible for missingNo to become invulnerable if the maximum health points are in the negative range.
- If the movement speed is below -100%, then the control is inverted. This means that, for example, the key that makes the character move upwards now controls the character downwards.
- When the Growth value is at -100% or below, missingNo cannot receive experience points. If the Curse value is -100% or lower, no enemies spawn. If the negative Luck value is -100% or lower, chests will not drop.
