In Super Smash Bros Brawl, there are some stages that you must first unlock before you can compete in them.
Super Smash Bros Brawl – How to unlock the stages
12 of the 41 Super Smash Bros Brawl levels have to be unlocked before you can fight with countless Nintendo characters. Sometimes this happens automatically, but for other stages, certain requirements must be met. In Super Smash Bros Ultimate on the Nintendo Switch, there are no levels that you can unlock, but the game contains all the characters from the previously released Smash Bros games, as well as 103 stages.
- Green Hill Zone (Sonic) – Unlock the character Sonic. To do this, you can complete Classic mode with 10 different characters, add Sonic to your team in “Subspace Emissary”, play 300 versus matches or play a total of ten hours of versus matches.
- Flat Zone 2 (Game & Watch) – Unlock the character “Mr. Game & Watch”. There are three ways to do this: add him to your team in “Subspace Emissary”, complete “Target Smash” with 30 different characters, or play 250 versus matches.
- 75m (Donkey Kong) – Play as Donkey Kong in 20 versus matches.
- Spear Pillar (Pokémon) – Successfully complete event match 25. In the match, you play as a badly damaged Lucario with 182% damage against Ness and Sheik, who you have to knock out once.
- Hanenbow (Hanenbow) – Successfully complete Event Match 28. You must turn all the leaves on the tree red during the match. You can do this by attacking them several times until they change color. It’s advisable to knock out Olimar first so that you can take care of the leaves in peace.
- Big Blue (F-Zero/Super Smash Bros. Melee) – Play as Captain Falcon in ten versus matches.
- Luigi’s Mansion (Luigi’s Mansion) – Play as Luigi in three versus matches.
- Jungle Japes (Donkey Kong Country/Super Smash Bros. Melee) – Play 10 versus matches on Melee Stages.
- Green Greens (Kirby/Super Smash Bros. Melee) – Play 20 versus matches as Kirby.
- The Pirate Ship (The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker) – Unlock the Toon Link character. To do this, either play 400 versus matches, complete Classic mode as Link after beating the Subspace Emissary, or enter the first door you see in the Forest area of the Subspace Emissary level.
- Pokémon Stadium (Pokémon/Super Smash Bros. Melee) – Play ten versus matches in the Pokémon Stadium 2 Gym.
- Mario Bros. (Super Mario Bros.) – Complete Event Match 19. As Wario, you face Mario and Luigi in this event, while also avoiding the turtles that roam the stage.
These modes can be unlocked in Super Smash Bros Brawl
In addition to stages and characters, there are also game modes that you can unlock in Super Smash Bros Brawl. If you want a change of pace, there are various Super Smash Bros alternatives on PC that invite you to a fun brawl.
- If you reach 200 knockouts in Brawls, you unlock additional rule options for matches. These allow you to change or adjust further parameters for the fights. These include, for example, the Team Attack rule, which, when activated, ensures that your attacks also do damage to your team member if they are in the crossfire.
- Once you’ve beaten all the stages, the additional rule “Random Stage Switch” is added. This rule allows you to set maps that will be considered when randomly selecting stages.
- You unlock Boss Battle Mode when you have played through both Classic Mode and Subspace Emissary. As the name suggests, you face off against all the bosses in the game, but the catch is that you only have one life.
- To unlock additional Target Smash levels, you must have previously played the corresponding level in Classic Mode.
- The All-Star mode is unlocked once you have unlocked all characters in the game. Here, you have to face each character in the game. After several rounds, you will come to a rest area where you can use healing items to recharge your health and prepare for the next round of fighting.
