If your games no longer start in Steam, this can be due to both Windows and Steam. We show you how to solve the problem.
Steam games no longer start: Repair games
- Switch to the “Library” at the top of Steam and find the game you want on the left.
- Right-click on the game and select the “Properties”.
- Switch to the “Local Files” tab and click on the “Check Game Files for Errors” button.
- The game will then be checked and repaired or reinstalled if necessary.
Steam: Disable connection to the community
- Click on “Steam” in the top left menu bar and select “Properties”.
- Switch to the “In-game” category on the left and uncheck the “Enable Steam overlay in game” option there.
- Use the “OK” button to save your settings.
Steam: Always run game as administrator
- Press the “Windows” and “E” keys at the same time so that Explorer opens
- Now search for the path of the game you want to play so that the EXE file is displayed for you to start.
- Right-click on the EXE file and select the “Properties”.
- Switch to the “Compatibility” tab at the top and activate the option “Run programme as administrator”.
- Save your settings with “OK” and restart Steam.
