Starfield: Selling contraband – Here’s how.

You cannot sell contraband in Starfield in the usual way. You will need to visit the appropriate traders to do this.

Sell contraband in Starfield

Smuggled goods are a tricky subject in Starfield. While you will receive a lot of credits for the illegal items, you may be caught by the authorities even before you sell them.

• If you don’t want to deal with the law, visit the Trade Inspectorate in the Burrow. You will find this space station in the Wolf system, 16 light years from Alpha Centauri. If you find Trade Supervisor ships on your travels, you can also sell there without a scan.
• Alternatively, you can of course sell the goods to the pirates of the Crimson Fleet. To do so, however, you must be a member of the faction.

• To visit the Trade Supervisory Authority in other systems, you must pass a security scan. Contraband is always detected without the use of necessary skills or ship modifications. This in turn leads to problems such as a bounty.

• With the skill Deception you reduce the success rate of a security scan up to 50 percent depending on the rank. In combination with the installation of a Shielded Cargo Hold, you can protect your contraband from the scan. You can have this installed as a member of the Crimson Fleet.
• You can alternatively install several scan jammers to increase the jamming rate by ten percent with each one. If you also level the Logistics skill, you can carry more contraband, because shielded cargo holds are smaller.
