Minecraft does not offer splitscreen on the PC like the Bedrock console version does. Computer players need Nucleus Co-op to play it.
Minecraft splitscreen on the PC: Set up MultiMC
To play Minecraft in split screen on PC, you need to download the MultiMC program. It will allow you to connect to your Mojang account and access the game.
- Install MultiMC via the installer and launch the application. You will be prompted to log in with your Mojang account.
- Create a new instance via Add Instance. The programme should now start Minecraft once to install necessary files for smooth running. Then close the instance.
- Go to the main menu of MultiMC and right click on the instance you created. Select the Copy Instance option. A copy of the instance will be created.
- Create as many instances as players. These are necessary for the split screen. This completes the setup of MultiMC.
Start splitscreen for Minecraft via Nucleus Co-op
Once MultiMC is set up, download and install Nucleus Co-op. Be careful not to install it in your Minecraft folder.
- Open Nucleus Co-op after installation and switch to the Script Browser. Download the script for Minecraft. Then select the input devices you want, such as your keyboard or gamepads.
- The programme will now open MultiMC. Confirm when Nucleus Co-op prompts you to run javaw.exe so it can launch multiple versions of Minecraft.
- If you are playing through an account, select the first instance and confirm by clicking Launch Offline.
- You can also play via several accounts, for example those of your friends. To do this, select an account, click on Launch and then select another account.
- The programme will now set up the split screen. You can then assign the input devices to the respective instance. Keyboard and mouse instances cannot play together with controllers.
- LAN games or multiplayer servers are available through the programme. Select the desired mode. Press the End key to set the input and you can play in split screen.
- To exit the game and save beforehand, press the End key again. Afterwards, you can close everything with the key combination Ctrl+Q.
