Sims 4 crashes: Effective solutions
The Game Sims 4 likes to crash, even if there are only minor problems. Here’s what you can do now:
- Memory: Despite the fairly low system requirements, Sims 4 needs a lot of memory in order not to crash. 8 GB of RAM should be optimal.
- Operating system: The game may crash more often when using a 32-bit Windows. If you still have a 64-bit Windows available, you should install it and try Sims 4 through it.
- Mods: Especially after a new patch, many mods no longer work and need to be updated. If you have downloaded new mods and then the game crashes, you should delete them one by one and see after which mod it works again.
- Cache: Delete the contents of the cache folder under “Documents/Electronic Arts/Sims 4/cache”. This can quickly cause the programme to stop. After deleting the content, the loading times are also considerably shorter.
- Restart Origin: Sometimes it simply helps to restart Origin. You can even have Origin fix the game.
- Reinstallation: Sometimes only a reinstallation helps. Especially the mod and cache folders should be completely deleted.
