Sims 4: Building the foundation – this is how you proceed

by Johannes

In principle, you already build the foundation for a house in Sims 4 along with each individual room. In order for it to become visible, however, you have to raise the building. This can be done with just a few clicks.

How to build a foundation in Sims 4

Unlike in Sims 3, you don’t have to build the foundation for your houses individually in the fourth part of the popular simulation game.

  • Click on the walls in construction mode and create the floor plan of your house.
  • Once you drag the last wall, you can then select the room with a [left click] and a few arrows will appear. If you want to change the room, simply drag the corresponding arrows in the respective direction.
  • To build the foundation, all you have to do is move the house upwards. To do this, hold the mouse pointer over the arrow that you will find in the middle of the room and that does not point in the different cardinal directions, but up and down. Now move the mouse upwards.
  • Important: Unlike in Sims 3, set doors and windows are moved directly with them. So you don’t have to worry if you have already bought and set them.
    • Alternatively, you can use the platform tool to place a foundation on the floor and then build your walls on it. Here, too, you can then raise or lower the entire room.
