PS5: How to use Discord on the PlayStation

Discord can be used together with the PS5 to forward status messages about the current game session to your own contacts. To do this, you need to link your Discord account with your PSN account.

Discord is only usable on the PlayStation 5 via a shortcut so far. According to freelance journalist Tom Henderson, the app itself should be usable on the PS5 with the 7.00 update on 8 March 2023. Until then, you can set up the shortcut:

• The link with Discord allows you to display the current game under the status messages. To do this, you need to enable the “Everyone” option in the “Current Game” and “PSN Online Status” items in the PSN privacy settings.

• Switch to the Discord user settings via the cogwheel next to your avatar. In the settings, navigate to the shortcuts.

• From the Add accounts to your profile option, select the PlayStation Network icon. Log in and confirm the link. Now your contacts will see your current PS session.
