While the Crucifix is associated with the expulsion of ghosts, demons and exorcisms in films, the Crucifix in Phasmophobia has a completely different task. We explain how to use it correctly in the game and why crucifixes are also so important.
Phasmophobia: How to use the Crucifix properly
The crucifix in Phasmophobia is not for fighting ghosts. As long as you carry it in your hand it is useless. The crucifix, when you take it off, can bind a ghost that is not yet in hunting mode to a certain place, in other words: delay the hunt and buy you time. Crucifixes can be bought for 30 dollars in the shop, which you reach via the main menu. Take the cross with you on the next mission and search for the ghost room.
- Find the ghost room: You have 5 minutes until the ghost becomes active. You should therefore use this time to find the room where the ghost is staying in the quickest way possible. Tools such as EMF readers and a Spirit Box that is switched on can be useful here.
- Display crucifixes in the room: Once you have found the room haunted by the spirit, you should immediately lay out any crucifixes that are present. Make sure they are evenly distributed – NOT all next to each other! Caution: A crucifix only has an effect within a radius of three metres – it therefore makes sense to spread several crosses (every three metres) around the room. If the spirit is out of range of the crucifix while it is trying to initiate the hunt, the crucifix will not protect the team!
- Hunt is stopped – you survive: With the right timing, the ghost is now trapped between the crucifixes for a while! He can neither leave the room nor start chasing you. Take the opportunity – try out items to quickly identify the ghost now.
The Crucifix: Useful Facts
Helpful tips, facts and advice about the use of the crucifix we have summarised here once again for you in brief:
- Each crucifix can only be used twice – after that it disappears and players have to buy a new one in the shop.
- Crucifixes cannot stop a hunt if it has already started.
- Crucifix range is 3 yards for most ghosts, but 5 yards for banshees.
- In small rooms it is sufficient to place one crucifix in the middle. A large room should better be equipped with several crucifixes.
- If the ghost is out of range, it is not affected and can enter hunting mode. If the ghost has already started hunting, the crucifix cannot protect the players.
- All ghosts are most dangerous in hunting mode. Crucifixes work on all ghosts, but show the most success on banshees.
- If the use of the cross has worked, you will not receive a notification. After two uses, the crucifix simply disappears.
