Nintendo Switch: Setting up a LAN connection – this is how it’s done

by Pramith

To set up a LAN connection for the Nintendo Switch, it must be in the charging station. This does not work with the Nintendo Switch Lite, because you can only use it in handheld mode.

Setting up a LAN connection for Nintendo Switch

In principle, setting up the internet is very easy. Depending on the charging station, you need a LAN adapter and a LAN cable or just the cable.

  • First check whether your charging station has a LAN port. If not, plug the LAN adapter into the USB port and then connect the LAN cable to it. Connect the other end of the LAN cable to your router.

  • Connect the charging station to your TV and then follow the instructions.

  • Now press the HOME button on your Switch and select the small gear wheel to access the system settings. There, tap the “Internet” tab.

  • Select the “LAN connection” option and then press “Connect to the Internet via LAN”. After a few seconds, it should be activated.

  • We recommend that you set up both a LAN and a WLAN connection on your Nintendo Switch. The device will automatically switch depending on which connection is available.
