You can also unlock additional content in the crypt in Mortal Kombat 11. To do this, you mainly use the Koins you have earned. However, you can also open the chests with hearts and soul fragments.

• In the crypt, there are also puzzles that need to be solved. This is the only way to access all the corners and play the full range of additional content

• Even if you enter the crypt alone (no co-op mode is available here), you need a stable internet connection. Otherwise, unlocked game content could be lost

• The third-person perspective is new. You can walk around freely in Mortal Kombat 11 and thus perceive the entirety of the crypt.

• To fully unlock the crypt, you must find key items. These include: Shao Kahn’s Hammer, Gem of the Living, Motaro’s Cracked Horn, Fragments of the One Being, Scorpion’s Spear, Kenshi’s Blindfold, Heart of Blaze, Shattered Staff of the Thunder God, Dragon Amulet Keystone, as well as Ermacs, Kronikas, Cetrions, Shinnoks and the Protector’s Amulet.

Tips and tricks for the crypt in Mortal Kombat 11

For those familiar with the previous games, many of the tricks listed here will be familiar. But even old hands of the game saga can learn something new.

• Chests cost between 1,000 and 15,000 Koins. However, the prices vary from game to game. While you have to fork out 10,000 Koins for a certain chest, another player might find a much cheaper one in the same place. The contents also vary, of course.

• The same content can be found in the same place by every player. Chests that cost 15,000 Koins are just as fixed as Shao Kahn chests and flame chests.

• Shao Kahn crates can be opened by smashing the head with a hammer. Then you must have 250 hearts ready. You can only open flame chests with Scorpion, or more precisely with his spear. A nearby mechanism must be activated. Here you pay with 100 hearts

• In total, you can open over 600 chests to unlock game content. In addition to skins and items, this also includes Fatalities and Brutalities. Of course, the entirety is the same, but the order in which you unlock things is not.

• You can also unlock content with hearts and soul fragments, these are usually in other containers.

• You can unlock further areas of the crypt by finding key items or solving puzzles.

• You can die in the crypt. However, you will not lose anything and respawn immediately.

The price usually determines the quality of the contents. You can therefore assume that expensive chests also conceal more valuable items. We have listed the different containers and what you can find in them here:

• Chests up to 4,000 Koins: Drawings, music, symbols, simple equipment, consumables, forging recipes and items, protective flasks and ashes of the red dragon

• Coffers up to 8,000 Koins: Brutalities and Fatalities, better equipment, Skeleton Keys, Taunts, Naknadan Charm, Soulstones and Lockpicks of the Scavenger

• Soul Container for 100 Fragments: taunts, better equipment, consumables and collector items

• Kronika’s container for 5,000 Koins: Skins, rare equipment and consumables

• Flame boxes for 100 hearts: skins, rare equipment (up to three pieces), 200 time crystals and forged items

• Shao Kahn chests for 200 hearts: Skins, Brutalities, rare equipment (up to three pieces) and buffs
