In Monster Hunter World, you don’t have to kill the monsters to get rare materials. Find out how to catch the monsters instead in this practical tip.
Tips for hunting in Monster Hunter World
Before you try to catch a monster in Monster Hunter World, first prepare in the same way as you would for a regular hunt.
- First, choose armour and a weapon that match the monster’s stats. For example, if you want to take on the Anjanath, select fire-resistant armour and a water or ice weapon.
- Take enough potions and other remedies with you. Healing potions are important components in combat. Also, pay attention to whether the monster you want to catch might be poisonous. Take enough antidotes for this too.
- Take traps with you. You can choose between shock traps and pitfall traps. You will also need tranquilliser bombs. If you have a bow as a weapon, you can also use tranquilliser ammunition.
- Then travel to the area where the monster is.
Catch monsters instead of killing them
To catch the monster instead of killing it, you need to pay attention to some subtleties.
- First get into a fight with the monster.
- The monsters in Monster Hunter World do not have a life bar. Therefore, you must pay attention to how the monster behaves.
- When the monster is exhausted, it will start limping. In addition, a skull symbol will appear on the mini-map.
- As soon as this symbol appears, you can catch the monster. When it is exhausted, it will go to its nest to sleep and regenerate.
- Sneak up on the monster and place a trap under it. Then select the tranquilliser bombs and place them near the head. If you have placed them optimally, two bombs are already enough for the monster to fall asleep.
- After the hunt you will find the sleeping monster in Astera.
