Minsc is one of the companions in Baldur’s Gate 3 who can only join your party late in the game. He is bound to a quest
Minsc in Baldur’s Gate 3: Into the Sewers
In Baldur’s Gate 3, you won’t meet Minsc until the third act of the game. To find him, you need the quest The High Harper of Jaheira. You will only receive this if you keep the druid alive in the second act and recruit her.
- You will then receive the quest in the third act, which you must complete. During this quest, you will meet Minsc in the Kontor treasure chamber. He has also been killed by an illithid tadpole and flees into the city’s sewers
- You also make your way into the sewers and must advance to the Abandoned Cistern (X: -244, Y:875). On the way there, you have to solve a puzzle that is a little more complicated
- Tip for the puzzle: You have to bring the temperature and water level to the right level. This is the only way to open the sluice gate and gain access to the Abandoned Cistern. Take your time with this
- Now you will encounter Minsc, a Shapeshifter disguised as Jaheira and other enemies. You must now kill the group except for Minsc. You can only bring the Ranger to his knees with a non-lethal attack, otherwise he will die and Jaheira will leave your party permanently
- After the battle, you must convince the Emperor (Guardian) that he should shield Minsc from the Absolute influence. Choose suitable dialog options so that the Ranger can join your party at the end
- Minsc starts at level 1 and has enough experience points to reach the twelfth level immediately. You can therefore customize him to suit your group
Boo and Minsc in Baldur’s Gate 3
The mini giant space hamster Boo is Minsc’s most important companion. You can also meet the little rascal in Baldur’s Gate 3.
- Once you have rescued Minsc, he will lead you to Boo inside the cistern. The rodent was locked in a wall by cultists because they could not withstand his righteous gaze.
- Boo and Minsc will be available together in your party from this point on. The hamster regularly influences Minsc’s decisions and it seems as if he is the smarter of the two
- You can use Boo in battle. He has a bite attack and you can even throw him at enemies with any party member. He always goes for the eyes and blinds the opponent, but is then incapacitated for the rest of the round.
- You can even trigger sneak attacks with Boo as long as you are holding a weapon at the same time. This can be helpful in some situations. He also has darkvision, which makes him useful for scouting.
- Boo is one of the few animals in Baldur’s Gate 3 for which the Speak with Animals spell does not work. He communicates telepathically with Minsc, as it is his familiar.
