Zooming in Minecraft is not a function supported by the game. However, you can help yourself with a specific setting or OptiFine
Zooming in Minecraft: Adjust FOV
There is no zoom function in Minecraft. However, you can set up a type of zoom using the field of view.
- Go to the options in the game menu…. There you will find the field of view option at the top
- You can now use the slider to enlarge or reduce the field of vision. In theory, this allows you to zoom in and out. The lower the value, the smaller the field of view and the more you zoom in.
- The only disadvantage of this variant is that you always have to switch to the menu to adjust the field of view. However, if you do not want to use OptiFine, the field of view is the best option.
- Tip: Alternatively, you can craft binoculars. These allow you to view distant areas and objects.
Zooming in Minecraft with OptiFine: How it works
To be able to zoom in Minecraft at the touch of a button, you need the free ModOptiFine. This increases the performance of the game, gives you more graphics settings and the option to zoom.
- You can download the latest version of OptiFine directly from the developers for your version as a JAR file. Install the file and then open your Minecraft launcher.
- In the launcher, go to the start options. There you will find a profile with the name OptiFine, which you select. You can then start the game
- Open the options… in the Minecraft menu. If you have installed OptiFine, you will find the Zoom setting under Controls.
- You can define any key there with which you can zoom in the game. By default, this is [C].
- When you return to the game and press the specified button, the image section should zoom in considerably. If you release the button again, you will return to the normal view.
