Minecraft is currently one of the most popular games ever. However, if the game does not start, this may be due to outdated drivers, among other things
Minecraft won’t start – what you can do
With these tips you can get Minecraft running again:
- First of all, make sure that you have installed the latest driver for your graphics card. You can check this either with Windows Update or on the manufacturer’s website.
- At the same time, you must ensure that Microsoft DirectX is also up to date. This can also be checked with Windows Update.
- In general, you should make sure that your computer meets the system requirements for Minecraft. The game may also be blocked by the firewall or the antivirus program. You should therefore temporarily switch off both services
- In many cases, it can also help if you delete the Minecraft “bin” folder. To do this, press the key combination [Windows] + [R]. Enter %appdata% in the field and then open the “Minecraft” folder. Delete the “bin” subfolder there and then restart your PC. You can also try allocating more RAM to Minecraft
Minecraft Launcher does not start: How to solve the problem
If your launcher does not start, this is usually due to the Minecraft installation or other programs that are incompatible with Minecraft.
- If you have just started Minecraft and the launcher does not open, check whether you have installed Java. If not, do this later
- A restart can also help the launcher to start. To do this, close the program in the Task Manager and try to open the launcher again. When restarting, also start the launcher as administrator
- You can use a clean boot to determine whether a problem with other programs is the cause. The PC only starts with the relevant drivers and programs. You can find the clean boot setting by entering “msconfig” in the Windows search bar and running the “Diagnostic system start” via the system configurator.
- If you are playing with Discord, deactivate the in-game overlay. If you now have a smooth start, you will have to do without voice chat in the same system in future.
- Mods can also sometimes be incompatible with the launcher. Deactivate the mods one by one to see if this is the problem.
- In addition to the above steps, checking the game log for error messages can also help to identify the cause of the problem.
