Using a spellbook in Minecraft allows you to improve weapons, tools and armor pieces with special attributes
Minecraft: How to use a spellbook
Use spellbooks in Minecraft via an anvil. Only with this tool can you cast the enchantment on the specific item.
- For example, if you have received a book with the Recoil 2 effect and want to use it on a diamond sword, interact with the anvil. Place it in the left-hand field of the window.
- Place the spellbook in the right-hand field. The anvil then performs the enchantment and consumes the book in the process.
- Note that this process costs a lot of experience points. For this reason, you should be well prepared for it.
- The effort is still worth it. Enchantments make tools and equipment many times more robust, stronger and more effective for a wide variety of uses.
Minecraft: Get enchanted books
Enchanted books carry enhancements of all kinds in effect levels from one to five. You can craft them yourself or find them at various locations in the world.
- If you want to craft a spellbook yourself, build two block-high bookshelves around a magic table. Then open it and place a book and one to three lapis lazuli inside. Now you can enchant the book by clicking on the magic runic writing
- If you want to search for spellbooks instead, visit desert temples, bastion ruins, dungeons, mines or fortresses. Check the chests to find a spellbook
- You can also fish for spellbooks. You have a 0.8 percent chance of hooking one.
- Trade with villagers to get hold of an enchanted book. The librarian will trade you one in return for a normal book and five to 64 emeralds.
- Note: The value of the enchantment depends on your level. Spellbooks found are always generated randomly and for this reason it is not possible to find the enchantments you want in a specific biome.
