Minecraft: How to build a composter

Composters have been available in Minecraft since 2019. The handy tubs appeared with the “Village & Pillage” update and are simply made from wooden steps.

  • They only spawn in villages and are accepted by villagers as an activity. The composters are filled with plant material and mushrooms and then produce bone meal as fertilizer
  • To craft a composter, you need seven wooden steps, which you arrange in a U-shape in the crafting window. The type of wood does not matter
  • Wood steps are made on three wooden boards in Minecraft, which you place in the bottom row of the crafting window of your workbench. You can make wooden planks from a block of wood in the normal crafting field.
  • You must then place the composter in the desired location and fill it. You will always receive a unit of bone meal after composting.
