Minecraft: Growing a mangrove tree – how to do it

by Mike

You grow a mangrove tree in Minecraft in a similar way to other trees. It is even possible to plant them directly in water

Grow a mangrove tree in Minecraft: Instructions

Mangrove trees only grow in mangrove swamps in Minecraft. If you want to plant mangrove trees yourself, proceed as follows:

  • Get yourself a mangrove seedling. These can be found in the foliage of mangrove trees. They are easy to spot from below as they stand out in color from the foliage.
  • Mangrove seedlings can be planted in any biome. They are compatible with a variety of blocks, including soil, grass, podsol, moss, arable soil, clay and even mud.
  • Pay attention to the space requirements of the trees. They need at least 5 x 5 blocks to develop.
  • Once you have found a suitable spot, plant the seedling directly into the soil. You can accelerate growth with bone meal, which you can make in a composter, for example.
  • Tip: You can even plant the seedlings in water as long as the soil is right. This allows you to create a mangrove swamp yourself.
