Minecraft: Crafting and using balloons

Craft balloons in Minecraft from a variety of materials. You can then use them in creative ways

Minecraft balloons: how to make and use them

Minecraft offers you the opportunity to make colourful balloons. All you need are the right elements.

  • Important: You can only craft balloons in the Bedrock or Education Edition. The item is not available in the Java Edition
  • You need certain connections and elements for balloons. These include six units of latex and a block of helium.
  • Like all other elements, helium can be found in the creative menu. There you can simply add the desired number of blocks to your inventory and use them.
  • Latex can be obtained from the compound generator. To do this, add five units of carbon and eight units of hydrogen to the compound grid to obtain one unit of latex.
  • You will also need a line. Craft this from a slime ball and four threads. Alternatively, you can find lines as buried treasure or in chests inside ancient sites and forest estates
  • A dye of your choice is also required for balloons. Then place the latex in the rows on the left and right of the crafting window. In the middle row, place the desired dye at the top, the helium in the middle and the string at the bottom.
  • You can then attach the balloon to fixed objects or fences like a conventional line. This means it won’t fly away and you can use it decoratively
  • It is also possible to attach balloons to mobs such as animals or golems and unattached objects. This causes them to be transported into the air and rise until they despawn together with the balloon.
