Mario Kart 8 Deluxe offers some new features compared to the Wii U version, including certain steering aids. We’ll show you how to turn them off here.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Turn off smart controls
New in the deluxe version of Mario Kart 8 is the so-called “Smart Control”.
- This steering aid ensures that you don’t crash into walls or fall into ravines.
- This allows your kart or bike to steer you past hazards without your intervention.
- However, this driving aid is automatically activated and lowers the difficulty level, which reduces the fun of the game, especially for old hands of the genre.
- The cunning control cannot be switched off in the menu or selection screen of the game. To disable it, you must enter a race.
- It doesn’t matter which mode or cup you select. As soon as the race starts, press the plus or minus button. By pressing the L button or using the touch screen, you can now switch off the driving aid.
Control Assist: Disable Car Acceleration
Another control aid is the “car acceleration”.
- However, this help is not activated from the beginning.
- It ensures that the throttle is automatically applied and can also be switched on or off during a race in the menu (pressing + or -) via the R button or the touch screen.
Motion control: Switch off the control option
Motion control refers to control options via the controllers such as shaking movements. The control can be activated and deactivated using the Y button within the races.
