The Light Reaper in Lords of the Fallen is a boss you will encounter frequently in the game. The hunter is not to be trifled with
Defeat the Reaper of Light in Lords of the Fallen: Preparation
In Lords of the Fallen, you will encounter the Reaper of Light four times. However, the battle sequence is always the same, so you can familiarize yourself with him a little.
- The first three encounters are similar to the tutorial boss in Elden Ring, the Transplanted Sprout. You can continue to follow the story without any problems, even if you lose the battles
- You only have to win the last encounter in Upper Calrath to progress. Ideally, you should defeat the Light Reaper there first, otherwise you won’t be able to complete certain NPC quests such as the one for Kukajin and the Paladin Isaac.
- You can also ask either Isaac, Kukajin or Pieta to help you defeat the boss. This makes the fight much easier, as the Light Reaper will usually focus on your NPC companion first.
- You should also kill the Umbral Parasite before the boss arena. This is important, as otherwise the Light Reaper will heal itself permanently, making the fight extremely difficult.
- Go into the Umbral before the boss arena and you will see a ladder on the right. Climb up it and then follow the path on the left after you have pulled a platform. At the end of the path you will find the parasite, from which you must extract the soul to destroy it
- This concludes the preparations. There is no preferred loadout for the boss, as the Light Reaper relies primarily on your dodging skills. However, there are still opportunities for long-range attacks
Lords of the Fallen: How to defeat the Light Reaper
As soon as you enter the Light Reaper’s boss arena in Lords of the Fallen, the battle begins. The hunter appears in the sky and will immediately attack you from the air with a blast of fire from his mount.
- Dodge to the side as quickly as possible, as the fire blast only goes in one direction and leaves a puddle of lava at the end. This is followed by a landing on your character, which you can avoid with a dodge roll. After a second burst of fire, the Light Reaper lands and descends
- Now you have to stay on your feet. The light cut is fast and uses long combos that can inflict a fair amount of damage. He often uses jumps and sprints to catch up to you
- He also uses fire attacks if you are too far away. It has no particular weak points, which means that the battle requires a lot of stamina on your part. Familiarize yourself with its movements and only attack when it recovers after an attack
- From time to time, the Light Reaper climbs onto his mount and attacks you from above. This continues until you have drained 50 percent of his health
- After this, the second phase begins, in which its attack patterns become faster and more dangerous. It now also deals additional fire damage and burns. So be even more on your guard so that he doesn’t hit you.
- If the Light Reaper leans back and calls out, the dragon attacks on its own. You must therefore also pay attention to the streams of fire.
- Fighting the light reaper requires patience and quick reflexes. You don’t have to worry about complicated mechanics.
