There are two ways to connect Xbox controllers to a cell phone. You can use Bluetooth or a cable connection
Connect Xbox controller to Android phone: Bluetooth method
You can connect your Android phone directly via Bluetooth. All you need is a smartphone with Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) or higher, an active Bluetooth connection and suitable controllers.
- These include the Xbox Wireless Controller for Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One Controller with Bluetooth compatibility, Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and even the Xbox Adaptive Controller. They all allow you to connect via Bluetooth
- To start the connection, press the Xbox button on the controller. It switches on.
- Now press and hold the Connect button on the gamepad for three seconds. It is switched to pairing mode, recognizable by the flashing
- On your Android smartphone, go to the settings and then to the device connections or connection settings. Select Bluetooth
- A list of compatible devices is displayed within the Bluetooth menu. Search for the Xbox Controller and start the connection. You can then use the device
Connect Xbox controller with iOS cell phone: Bluetooth method
iPhones can also be connected conveniently via Bluetooth to the Xbox controller models already mentioned.
- First set the controller to pairing mode as described above.
- Switch to your iPhone and open the Bluetooth option under Settings. Search for other devices to find the gamepad.
- Select the Xbox gamepad and start the connection setup via pairing. The Xbox controller can then be used with your iPhone.
