Hosting a Palworld server is not as difficult as it sounds. The developers offer a free tool for this purpose
Palworld: Hosting a server step by step
Palworld offers an extensive multiplayer mode for up to 32 players. A server host is required so that you can catch Pals and mine resources together with others. Developer Pocketpair offers a free Steam tool for this purpose.
- Attention: Free servers for Palworld are currently (as of January 2024) only available for Steam players.
- To host the server, open Steam and go to your library. There you will find a drop-down menu above the search bar with the categories Games and Tools. Place a checkmark in front of the tools to display them
- If you own Palworlds, you will have access to the Palworld Dedicated Server tool. Select it and download the server tool
- Now you need to download and install SteamCMD to host the server. On the download page, select Download SteamCMD for Windows. Then unzip the file
- Then create a new folder and name it Palworld Server, for example. Drag the unzipped SteamCMD file into the folder and double-click to start it. Wait until the program has downloaded the necessary files
- You can tell if the program is finished if the last line says Steam☻. Then type the command logon anonymous after the Steam☻ and confirm with [ENTER].
- Then wait again until the Steam☻ is displayed. After this, enter app_update 2394010 validate as the new command and confirm again. Wait again until the program has downloaded and installed all the necessary files
- Close SteamCMD and then switch to the PalServer folder. You will usually find this under C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common if you have not changed the location.
- Start the server by clicking on PalServer.exe. A window will open, which is the server. Then start Palworld via Steam.
- Start a session via the multiplayer menu by entering the following under Connect: IP address:8211, which of course refers to the IP address of the host.
- Confirm with Connect and the server is started. You can customize server settings such as passwords and more via the PalWorldSettings.ini file in the PalServer folder.
