Fighting is an integral part of Digimon Survive, and especially in the beginning, tips to help you win as a beginner are worth their weight in gold.
Digimon Survive – this information will help you in battle
Battles in Digimon Survive are turn-based, and information such as the distance your Digimon can travel per turn and what their strengths and weaknesses are can be viewed both during battle and outside of it. The difference of turn-based battles compared to real-time in role-playing games is mainly that you as a player have more time to plan your moves in peace.
- Each Digimon belongs to one of three types: File, Virus and Serum. In battle, this stands out in the form of a scissors, rock, paper-like system. Virus beats Serum, but receives more damage from File. File beats Virus but gets the short end of the stick against Serum. Serum has the advantage over File and weakens with Virus.
- At the beginning of a battle, place your monsters. It is worth having at least one Digimon of each type on the field so that you are prepared against all eventualities.
- In Digimon Survive, Digimon are divided into partner Digimon and free Digimon. You recruit free Digimon in free battles, which you can usually find at any time on the map. Note, however, that you recruit free Digimon only with the speech function of your partner Digimon. If you answer the digimon’s statements correctly, you will get the chance to recruit it. The probability is shown to you in percentages.
- Unlike partner Digimon, free Digimon must be evolved using stone tablets, which you find during the game or obtain as battle rewards and through chests. Free Digimon cannot return to their previous form after evolving and also do not have a speech function.
- If a fight is too difficult for you, you are free to adjust the difficulty both during and outside the fight. During the fight, you speed up the moves by holding down the confirmation button. If you want to permanently increase the speed of the fight, you will find the settings for this in the options.
- In Digimon Survive, the battlefields are characterised by different terrains that limit mobility. If your Digimon has to reach a higher level, the number of movement points is reduced. Likewise, only flying Digimon can move across chasms. You can see how well the respective Digimon moves on the status page.
- If you like the battle system in Digimon Survive, it’s also worth taking a look at the tips and tricks for the game Fire Emblem – Three Houses, which also impresses with its tactical and turn-based battles as well as a thrilling storyline.
Digimon Survive – so important is affection
In Digimon Survive, you spend most of the game talking to your fellow Digimon or making important decisions that can increase affection.
- Affection is a value that positively affects various systems in the game. Through dialogue options between the characters, you have the possibility to increase the value regularly. Each human combatant has their own affection value.
- A high affection value increases the support that each partner digimon can contribute in battle. You also need a certain amount of affection with your fellow combatants in order for their Digimon to evolve. Ultra evolution requires 35 affections and Mega evolution requires 70 affections.
- Although affection does not have a significant effect on the story overall, the value still influences the fate of some characters.
