Rykard, Prince of Blasphemy, awaits players of Elden Ring in the depths of House Vulcan. With a few tips and tricks, you can defeat the demigod more easily
Elden Ring: Defeat Rykard more easily
Once you have fought your way through House Vulcan on Mt. Gelmir, Rykard, Prince of Blasphemy, awaits you in its depths, initially in his first form, the God-devouring Serpent. He only reveals his true form in phase 2 of the boss fight. If you manage to slay this optional boss, you can expect 130,000 runes, the Echo of the Blasphemous and Rykard’s Great Rune. It is also perfect for leveling up for the DLC Shadow of the Erdtree. Here are some tips to help you in battle:
- Note that you must first pass the first phase of the battle against the Godswallowing Serpent. It has its own life meter, which you must reduce to 0 before the fight against Rykard begins. If you die in the second phase, you will have to defeat the snake again. However, the tips described here apply to both phases of the fight.
- Rykard is extremely vulnerable to frost. It is therefore best to apply this status effect to him at the start of the battle to increase the damage dealt.
- Be sure to use the snake hunter’s great spear, which you can find in the entrance area of the boss arena. Its talent Giant Serpent Hunt stuns Rykard for a short period of time, giving you the opportunity to attack him with a weapon talent combo, a charged heavy attack or an invocation/spell. Also use the weapon’s talent in the second phase to interrupt Rykard’s grudge call, a spirit attack.
- Since the fight only begins when you are sufficiently close to the boss, you can teleport out of the arena immediately after collecting the Snake Hunter Greatspear. Visit one of the two blacksmiths (Hewg or Iji) and give the spear an upgrade. This will make the battle much easier
- The Carian Filgran Crest reduces the consumption of FP when using the Giant Serpent Hunt and is therefore a useful tool in this battle.
- If you summon the spirit ash Imitator Tear while you have the Snake Hunter Great Spear equipped, the boss fight becomes a real piece of cake.
