Cleaning the XBOX One – what you need to know

by Michaela

There is not much you can do to clean the Xbox One, but you should pay attention to a few important things. We show you how to clean your Xbox One without damage.

Tips & tricks: Cleaning Xbox One

To prevent damage to your console, it is helpful to clean the Xbox One of coarse dirt every now and then.

  • Dust and dirt can be easily wiped off with a slightly damp cloth. For safety reasons, be sure to switch off the console. Liquid must not be allowed to enter the Xbox One under any circumstances.
  • In the best case, you have a microfibre cloth. You can also use this to clean the console dry. Microsoft also recommends a microfibre cloth for cleaning the Kinect sensor.
  • Often people try to clean the fan with a hoover. Although this is possible, it can quickly go wrong. The hoover causes the fan to rotate irregularly or in the wrong direction. Damage is quite possible here.
  • The following approach is commonly practiced, but you should still be aware of the risks. Disconnect the Xbox One completely from the power and insert a toothpick into the fan to stop it from spinning. On a low setting, you can now suck the fan out.
