Call of Duty Black Ops 6 takes the gaming experience to the next level with cross-platform play. PC and console players can play together.
Call of Duty Black Ops 6: Set up cross-platform play
Crossplay in Call of Duty Black Ops 6 allows you to play with friends on different platforms without any restrictions.
- In the settings under Account & Network, link your platform accounts (such as PlayStation Network or Xbox Live) to your Activision account. This is a necessary step because the Activision account serves as the central ID for cross-play, enabling you to play across platforms.
- After that, enable cross-play in the game settings. Navigate to the Account & Network tab. There you will find the options Unranked Cross-Play and Ranked Cross-Play. On PC, the option is enabled by default.
- Under these, you can turn cross-play on or off. Console players can choose between the options On and On (Console Only). This makes it possible to play ranked matches only against players at the end of your own or all platforms.
- You can then use your Activision ID to send cross-platform friend requests and add others to your friends list. This ID is issued by Activision for all players, eliminating the need to add separate friends on PlayStation, Xbox, or PC.
- To do so, open the friends menu, select Add Friend, and enter the Activision ID. After they accept the request, they will appear in your friends list.
- Be sure to enable the “Crossplay Preferred” option to automatically enter cross-play lobbies. For players who want to focus on controller-only matches, there are options to filter players by input method to ensure a fair gaming experience.
Call of Duty Black Ops 6: How to Disable Crossplay on PC
For PC players, the only way to disable cross-play is through the Xbox PC app.
- First off: If you play the Steam or Battle.net version of the game, cross-play is permanently activated. Only the Microsoft Store version allows you to deactivate cross-play.
- Open the app and navigate to the privacy settings within your account. Click Manage.
- There you will find the Online Security tab for Xbox Series XS, Xbox One, and Windows 10 devices. You can then block cross-play features by selecting the option Join cross-network play.
- Click Submit to save the setting. Now you will only play against PC players, but you can reactivate the cross-play feature whenever you want.
Call of Duty Black Ops 6: Optimizing crossplay
Efficient crossplay means not only playing across platforms, but also ensuring the best game quality for all players.
- Communication is key in cross-play lobbies. Since party chat is not cross-platform on consoles, we recommend using in-game voice chat. Make sure your audio settings are optimized to ensure clear communication.
- Since different platforms offer different technical possibilities, you should adjust your graphics settings to avoid delays and frame drops. While higher graphics settings on PC systems can offer visual advantages, make sure that this performance remains stable in order to make optimal use of game mechanics.
- A stable network connection is essential for cross-play. Check your ping values and optimize your router settings if necessary. Lag and connection problems can occur more frequently, especially in larger lobbies and on platforms like PC.
- Try out different lobbies to get used to the feel of the game on different platforms. Take advantage of input devices and, if necessary, practice in private matches with team members to ensure a seamless and smooth gaming experience.
