The Moon Lantern in Baldur’s Gate 3 is an essential tool for surviving the dangerous Shadowlands. Finding it is not easy.
Baldur’s Gate 3: Find the Moon Lantern in the North of the Shadowlands
When you first venture into the Baldur’s Gate 3 Shadowlands, you will need to obtain a Moon Lantern. However, the first ones are damaged.
- Unfortunately, it is not possible to repair the broken moon lanterns. You will have to go in search of the important item. Meanwhile, use torches and spells to get some light.
- To get a working moon lantern, you need to head north along the road. Follow the road until you reach the tavern Zum letzten Licht.
- In the tavern, talk to the druidess Jaheira, who is already known from earlier Baldur’s Gate parts. She will give you the quest Find Protection from the Shadow Curse.
- Over the course of the quest, you will receive a Moon Lantern, either via diplomacy or a fight against the cultists. The lantern is carried by the Drider.
- Having captured the Moon Lantern, you must make a decision about the fairy dwelling in the light source. We do not spoil the outcome of each decision at this point. However, for both decisions you will receive a suitable light source for your journey through the Shadowlands.
Alternative: Moonlamp in Balthazar’s room
Baldur’s Gate 3 also offers you the chance to grab a moon lantern in the west of the Shadowlands in the Towers of Moonrise.
- In the beginning, however, this variant is more dangerous, as you are more exposed to the darkness.
- Having made it to the towers in the west without a moonlamp, seek out the NPC Z’rell. You will need to use your powers of persuasion to get the key to the room. Be sure to pose as a worshipper of the Absolutes.
- You will find Balthazar’s room on the first floor. Enter the room and look for the moon lantern. It’s just lying around and can’t really be missed.
