Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes you to feudal Japan in the 16th century. You control the shinobi Naoe and the African-born samurai Yasuke
Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Espionage in ancient Japan
After Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Ubisoft will release the next installment in the series about the Assassins on November 15, 2024: Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
- Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set during the Azuchi-Momoyama period towards the end of the 16th century, the later part of the Sengoku Jidai. This period of feudal Japan is characterized by war, intrigue and great personalities such as Oda Nobunaga.
- In the game, you take on the role of two characters who shed light on different aspects of the story surrounding the approaching unification of the empire. You build up your own espionage network for this purpose
- Use this to gather information on important targets, unlock new areas or hire NPCs for missions. A customizable safe house is also included, which is used for recruitment and training.
- The open world in Assassin’s Creed Shadows shows Japan changing with the seasons. In combination with the dynamic weather, Ubisoft wants to present the latest version of the Anvil engine
- Items such as grappling hooks and mounts help players to explore the world like a shinobi or samurai.
The duo in Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Naoe and Yasuke
The spotlight in the latest Assassin’s Creed is not just on the setting.
- As in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, you once again take on two characters with different abilities and story elements. One of them is Yasuke, samurai and subordinate of Oda Nobunaga
- Yasuke, a man probably from Mozambique, is a warrior who can jump straight into the fray. He is particularly effective against larger groups of opponents and can draw on an extensive repertoire of skills to do so.
- Naoe, on the other hand, is a shinobi who primarily moves in the shadows, infiltrating buildings and gathering information. She can make use of her surroundings to move unseen.
- In the world premiere trailer for the game, both characters can be seen, including what is probably their first meeting. Naoe’s village has been attacked by enemies and it looks like Yasuke is on the side of the shinobi
