You can take over islands in Anno 1800 in two different ways: You can either let your military or your capital do the talking.
Anno 1800: Take over islands militarily
One of the easiest methods to take over an island in Anno 1800 is the military variant.
- For this method, you declare war on the owner of the island. Then you have to transport your fleet to the target island and set your sights on the continent’s gateway.
- Attack the Kontor and the coastal region with your ships until the island becomes yours. To do this, the morale must drop so much that the island is no longer usable by the original owner.
- Once the island becomes your property, you can either take it over completely or receive all shares. If you take over the island completely, all buildings except the Kontor are removed and you can build on it as you wish.
- If you decide to take the shares instead, the island becomes a kind of vassal. It is under the control of the previous owner, but you receive the majority of the revenue. If you want to take over the island completely in the future, you can pay for the individual shares.
- Important: If two or more players attack an island together, it cannot be taken over completely. Each player receives a number of shares depending on their effort during the attack.
Buy up islands in Anno 1800
If your military is not available to take over the target island in Anno 1800, you can simply buy it.
- In order to take over islands economically, you must purchase five shares. You can see the shares required by checking the pie chart next to the island name.
- You will get an overview of the costs for each share, which depend on the population and size of the island. For each share, you also need ten influence points before you can acquire it. Thus, 50 influence points are required for an island.
- The purchase of shares is linked to a waiting period. After purchasing a share, you must wait ten minutes per island before you can purchase the next one. It is possible to buy shares from more than one island at the same time.
