Anno 1404: The 5 best tips
With these tips, you can make your life a lot easier in the endless game and in the campaign in Anno 1404. It doesn’t matter whether you prefer trade or a more warlike nature.
- Instead of producing many tools, you should start by producing more ropes – especially with 10,000 starting gold, because then it is particularly noticeable. Since selling ropes brings in more income than selling tools, you can gain a significant advantage with this, especially at the beginning of the game. Try to sell the ropes in the counting house if possible, as this will bring even more money than in a castle.
- For the Oriental trade, the best goods are perfume and coffee. If possible, avoid producing marzipan altogether. It brings in less than half of the profit of perfume and coffee. Tip: You don’t have to produce a lot of perfume to make a decent profit.
- When you build walls in Anno 1404, don’t build your defense towers directly into the wall. Place a space behind the wall so that attacking ground units can’t reach your wall. Your defense towers, however, retain their ability to attack enemies at a distance. This gives you a huge advantage. But watch out for your opponents’ ground units – catapults, for example. These can, of course, still attack from a distance.
- To attack your opponent in a strategically favorable way, you should first concentrate on his production sites. If you attack the opponent’s central points, this is usually only possible with heavy losses. So systematically destroy his production sites to slowly but surely deprive him of resources. It is also very effective to attack your opponent’s trade ships and thus significantly impair the flow of goods.
- You can use a little trickery at sea during a war and thus allow your own ships to return to port with little damage: When attacking one of your opponent’s ships, always do so with two or more ships. As soon as your opponent attacks one of them, you can pull the ship out of the opponent’s attack radius. This will cause your opponent to turn to the other one, and you can repeat the same procedure to quickly and safely destroy your opponent’s ships.
